WP4 - Implementation in a Circular Economy
The objective is to integrate results with user feedback and regulatory considerations for innovation and societal recommendations.
This WP is led by Sra Hale (NGI) and Francesco Cherubini (NTNU).
In consideration of the outcomes of WP2 and WP3, these results will be interpreted and discussed with the user groups for implementation in a circular economy. A particular focus will be
- current regulations regarding the use of sewage sludge as fertilizer to allow for thermally treated sludge (e.g. with the sewage sludge regulators, producers like VEAS and Trondheim Kommune, and biogas industry sector like Lindum and Scanship)
- economic aspects regarding the large scale use and production of pyrolysis waste products
- market and regulatory concerns for the recycling of hazardous substances in a circular economy
- regulatory and market concerns for pyrolytically treated e-waste plastic (e.g. with regulators and the company managing most e-waste in Norway, Norsirk)
- potential for win-win economic strategies that could be implemented by industry, based on the outcome of SLUDGEFFECT.
Progress in these areas will be discussed at user group meetings, a final workshop, and a final recommendation report.
